The 30 day activation window has passed. I was contacted by a customer who had work done by a different company. They installed an OEM version of XP Pro on their Dell machine but didn't activate it. Windows xp gives 30 day full fledged trial. Beyond trial period you will not even login into your user account. This procedure is to login into your account and run like normal computer but activation window has to be remain open. This method doesn't requires you to do a Reinstall or download risky softwares or cracks. First we will de-activate windows and then change the product key.No restart is required.Lets begin (Do it at your own risk) Heres how • Click on Start and then Run. • In the text box in the Run window, type regedit and click OK. This will open the Registry Editor program. • Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder under My Computer and click on the (+)sign next the folder name to expand the folder. • Continue to expand folders until you reach the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Software Microsoft WindowsNT Current Version WPAEvents registry key. • Click on the WPAEvents folder. • In the results that appear in the window on the right, locate OOBETimer. • Right-click on the OOBETimer entry and choose Modify from the resulting menu. • Change at least one digit in the Value data text box and click OK. This will deactivateWindows XP. Feel free to close Registry Editor at this point. • Click on Start and then Run. • In the text box in the Run window, type the following command and click OK.%systemroot% system32 oobe msoobe.exe /a • When the Let's activate Windows window appears, choose Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows and then click Next. • Click the Change Product Key button at the bottom of the window. Don't worry about filling anything out on this screen. • Type your new, valid Windows XP product key in the New key: text boxes and then click the Update button. Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) Genuine Serial Key DYKRH-48DMG-PHKGY-4329Q-PXGHT Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) Genuine Serial KEy MR49R-DRJXX-M6PX2-V96BF-8CKBJ • You should now reactivate Windows XP by following the instructions on the Activate Windows by phone window which you should now be seeing or via the Internet by clicking the Back button and following the instructions on that screen. If you'd rather postpone activating Windows XP until a later date, you can click the Remind me later button. • After activating Windows XP, you can verify that activation was successful by repeating steps 9 and 10 above. The Windows Product Activation window that appears should say 'Windows is already activated. Click OK to exit.' I had a drive sent to me that was failing to load the OS. As this was an old PATA SSD I elected to pull an image of the drive, apply that image to a Virtual, and then ran the XP inplace repair. That all went fine except it would not accept the product key, which the customer sent me a image of the sticker on the physical box. I was able to skip it and was going to use a process that we use here constantly to redo the product key after I got the drive up. That all went great, now the system boots and loads the OS. But now I am stuck in a Logon Activation loop. I am not able to logon to the OS without entering safe mode as the loop is not present in safe mode. I have seen all the post about resetting the 30 day limit and all the ways to do it. I have tried everything I can find online but I am happy to hear everyones suggestions. If a suggested method is something I have already tried I will mark it as such. Originally I ran the inplace repair with SP3, the install was SP2. I am now trying it with SP2 without reloading my VM with my original image. If it still does not work I suppose I should try starting over with my original image of the drive as it came to me. Oh and if you do have a server 2008R2 I would suggest giving WDS a look. It is really easy to use. The Seven Wonders of the World or the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is a list of remarkable constructions of classical antiquity given by various authors. Serial 7 wonders ancient world. Jump to Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - The classic seven wonders were: Colossus of Rhodes. Great Pyramid of Giza. Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Lighthouse of Alexandria. Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. Statue of Zeus at Olympia. Temple of Artemis at Ephesus. (You just PXE boot to the server and choose the install you want to install - yes you do have to first import them to the server). I also have Ghost on my network and I am finding WDS to be much easier to use. You also may want to download MDT to get WSIM (Windows System Image Manger) this is a GUI way to create the unattended file (setup how you want the installation to progress. Also you can only Sysprep /Generalize an image 3 times. So everytime I need to update the image I start from scratch (Fresh strait from the CD - OK I imported the CD WIM file into WDS and I use that to deploy/install win7). Then do all the updates and install a few programs that don't change often. Then I capture the image using WDS (Yes it will sysprep the image for me with out me telling it to). Then using the captured image I deploy that to the new systems and using WSIM I join the computer to the domain and call a script that installs all the normal programs on the computer. This way if any software changes (Java, flash, adobe reader, etc) I can just update the script and all the new computers are installed with the updated software. Hope this helps. I believe Murpheous is talking about today's incident of Windows Activation Servers going down.
